Our Stained Glass Cross

The Stained Glass Cross hanging in the front window facing the lake was the idea of Joan Hein who drew the original design. Many elements in the original are representative of life at St. Davids. The wide base and heavy roots of the tree symbolize the more than 100 years of Christian worship in the North Shuswap. The lake and the mountains are the view we see looking out the window over the alter. All the leaves and branches of the tree are facing up to the cross.

Local stained glass artist, Giovana Goyan, took Joan’s initial drawing and adapted it to a design in stained glass. This stained glass cross now hangs in the lakeside window of the church, with the sky, hills, and lake as a backdrop.
